Lake Forest, CA (PRWEB) October 13, 2007 -- Market demand has driven the introduction of our new 3U Compact PCI family of networking products. These new product offerings include Gigabit Ethernet line cards and switches and are built from proven existing core technology designs.
Market demand is being created by high product costs and interoperability issues currently existing in new architectures including MicroTCA and also by the need for a standardized small factor robust mature architecture that is suitable for both Military and Telecom applications. The 3U Compact PCI architecture can fill this demand as shown by the Army's adoption of 3U CPCI for their next generation of battlefield command and control systems.
3U CPCI models and descriptions:
Model: C5164
Quad-port Gigabit Ethernet 1000 Base T with RJ-45 type connectors
Model: C5262-SC
Dual-port Gigabit Ethernet 1000 Base SX/LX with SC type transceivers
Model: C5262-LC
Dual-port Gigabit Ethernet 1000 Base SX/LX with LC type transceivers
Model: C5262-RJ
Dual-port Gigabit Ethernet 1000 Base T with RJ-45 type connectors
Model: C5263-SFP
Dual-port Gigabit Ethernet 1000 Base SX/LX with pluggable SFP type transceivers
Model: C5468
Eight-port hybrid switch/HBA with 4-port RJ-45, 2-port rear I/O and 2 host ports
The Models C5262/SC/LC and C5263-SFP support 850nm multimode and 1310nm singlemode transceivers. In addition, the C5262-LC and C5263-SFP support singlemode transceivers to 40km and CWDM transceivers in various wavelengths. A Commerical (-C1) model and models with two levels of ruggedization are available (-R1, -R2) offering conformal coating and temperature ranges from -40C to +85C with forced air cooling. A conduction cooled model is also in the roadmap for the product line.
The Model C5468 is a highly integrated 8-port Gigabit Ethernet switch on a 3U CPCI and can be operated in both standalone and managed modes. All 8-port are fully cross connected and manageable from an onboard EEPROM or via the PCI host interface. Four of the eight ports have RJ-45 connectors to the front panel, 2 ports routed to rear I/O (via J4 connector) and 2 ports are routed to an onboard dual-port Intel 82546GB MAC/PHY/Serdes providing a traditional PCI/PCI-X host bus interface to the protocol stack. Manageable features include trunking and link aggregation, failover, port mirroring, address management, jumbo frames, port based and 802.1Q tagged VLANs, various modes of traffic priority including 802.1p based QoS for four queues.
The 3U Compact PCI family of switch and interface network cards are targeted for OEMs, VARs and Systems Integrators for use in Telecommunications, Military, Datacenter and Industrial applications including switching, routing, multiplexing, media gateways, base stations, mobile backhaul, signal processing, IPTV VoIP, video broadcasting and network test equipment. "Our new 3U line leverages proven intellectual property, fills architectural voids and is a welcome enhancement to our existing broad lineup of products suited for high-speed packet based networking; while positioning us well in our continued support for applications in the Military, Telecom and Datacenter sectors" said Jerry Marcinko, President/CEO and CTO of DSS Networks, Inc.
The 3U CPCI family of multiport network interface and switch cards are available now with an OEM Developers Kit containing onboard firmware, vxWorks, Linux and Windows device drivers, library functions, configuration management interfaces, loopback tests, benchmark programs, real-time statistics, built-in diagnostics, application notes, user manuals and other documentation.
