Compel Electronics Obtains UL (Underwriters Laboratories) Certification

Cornate dAdda, April 2008 – Compel Electronics SpA, (www.compel.it), a leading international company in the design and manufacture of interconnection systems and cable assemblies, has been certified for its Quality Management System ISO 9001 since 1993 and for its Environmental Management System ISO 14001 since 2006, during the year 2007 obtained the UL certification for the product lines Connectors FOR USE IN DATA PROCESSING (power metric connectors), CONNECTOR COMPONENTS, COM-MET 2 Series (2mm pitch metric connectors), D-SUB CONNECTORS and for its RACK FOR TELECOMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT (eBSC).

The UL trademark is recognised in the United States and Canada. The UL certification attests the safety of the products in line with the norm issued in particular by the North American market.

For the North American consumer, for the supervisory authorities checking on the application of the local and national codes and regulations and for the manufacturers, UL represents the most acknowledged symbol of safety throughout North America.

The different stages tackled by the technical-quality team in Compel to achieve this certification have been extremely demanding.

The first step was the joint supplier-certifier check-up on Compels drawings and technical specifications.

Subsequently, samples were subjected to tests related to plastic materials (degree of flammability) and to functionality tests in a climatic chamber on the complete connectors.

After the tests, an inspection visit was carried out in the company for the application of the UL Mark on the connector assembly lines and at the premises of the plastic material suppliers.

Once the tests and internal and external inspection visits had been completed, the inspector authorised the application of the UL mark.

The Compel products that have been UL certified are marked with a specific label or mark and are inserted in the list of UL certifications which can be found on the website www.ul.com.

Compel Electronics S.p.A. has received UL certificates for all the product lines involved and these are attached as formal evidence.

The UL certification for those product lines involved will be monitored by the certifying body in Compel every 3 months for the correct usage of the UL mark.
