UL Expands Performance Verification Services for Copper Cabling Products

NORTHBROOK, Ill., Sept. 6 -- In response to industry demand, Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) announces the availability of additional performance testing services to the latest draft of TIA/EIA 568B.2, Addendum 10 (Augmented Cat 6 requirements, including alien measurements).
As a supplement to this new service, UL also offers performance testing services to the latest draft of Technical Systems Bulletin TSB-155, entitled "Guidelines for the Assessment and Mitigation of Installed Cat 6 Cabling to Support 10GBase-T. These guidelines contain additional recommendations to further characterize existing Cat 6 cabling as specified in TIA568B.2-1 for 10GBase-T applications.
These new service offerings include all applicable alien measurements as required by the standard. The alien measurements can provide critical performance information for 10GBase-T product testing and deployment.
These services are available at UL's Center of Excellence for LAN Cabling Product Testing, located in Melville, NY. UL can also provide these services under its Witness Test Data Program by verifying the acceptability of test equipment, methods and samples at the manufacturer's facility.
UL's current performance testing services for copper cabling products offer the options of either performance verification and follow-up service, or a one-time letter report service.
