MEN Micro's New Single-slot, 8-Channel, 3U CompactPCI I/O Board Cost-effectively Extends Functionality in Existing Systems

1 year 4 months ago

AMBLER, Pa. October 2008 – MEN Micro Inc., a world-renowned provider of embedded computing and I/O solutions for demanding industrial, mobile and harsh environment applications, now offers a single-slot, 3U CompactPCI I/O board with eight 16550D-compatible UARTs.

With the physical layers integrated on the board, each channel on the new F216 can be individually configured as single-end RS232 or as differential RS422 or RS485 for added system flexibility. Each channel also has its own 500 V isolation to decrease interference between channels.

The F216 provides exceptionally high data transfer rates of up to 921,600 bits/s as well as a 60-byte transmit and receive buffer, making the board useful in systems with large FIFO requirements. The operating temperature of -40°C to +85°C (-40°F to +185°F) enables the F216s use in rugged mobile applications including trains and airplanes.

Although each port is available on a single front panel 78-pin D-Sub connector, an adapter cable can spread the connector to eight standard 9-pin D-Sub connectors, further increasing system flexibility.

Pricing for the F216 is $733 per unit. Delivery is six weeks ARO.
